BEYOND THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

This is a recent outfit I wore for drinks with a couple of friends from work. I was recently offered a new job and in a week's time, when I start this new job, everything is going to change. These two friends have become really important in my life and I am going to miss them so much. I also apologise for the gormless look in my eyes. This was after the wine.

WITH A HAPPY REFRAIN, JUST SINGIN', SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

It already feels like months ago, but earlier in the month Jordan and I stuffed our rucksacks full of pot noodles and glitter and headed to the Isle of Wight for Bestival's 10th Anniversary. Considering that the only other weekend festival I have ever been to was Leeds Festival, Bestival came as quite a shock to say the least. (Word of advice: If you're older than 17, don't go to Leeds Fest')

Keep fit trannies, getting lost in a forest in the early hours of the morning, John Cooper Clarke announcing that Alex Turner was his illegitimate child and, of course, the God that is Elton John, made for one of the best weekends ever. My only regret was not having enough time to make a costume for the Saturday and I was beyond jealous when admiring other people's. But bring on next year! I already have the papier mache at the ready.

LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE

My family came to visit me last bank holiday weekend and I decided to take them to Nunhead cemetery, which is a short walk from my flat. It's a really beautiful place if you haven't been before and you get an amazing view of St Paul's Cathedral, especially on a sunny day.

NICE DAY FOR A WHITE WEDDING

So I was back home in North Yorkshire this weekend for my boyfriend's cousin's wedding. Expecting bright sunshine (as you would in the middle of August) I chose bare legs and only a tiny cardi to keep me warm. Note to self: blue knees are not a good look for a wedding.

Dress: Orla Kiely
Cardigan: Orla Kiely
Bag: Deep vintage
Shoes: Zara

I got this bag from a vintage store in York called Deep that I was obsessed with in my younger years. The purse was a birthday gift from my boyfriend but also from another York vintage store, Glory Days.

HONEY I'M HOME

So I've decided to start my blog again after an almost two year hiatus. For my first (new) post I thought I'd give you a little update on what I've been up to in the last two years.

I finished my MA in Fashion Journalism from London College of Fashion, creating a hair magazine called 'Rinse' for my final major project. This then lead on to various internships at AnOther magazine and Creative HEAD magazine before I became a freelance stylist and fashion writer.

Here are some examples of my styling work:

I run a website called The Girl Mag with friends that I met during my Masters degree. We post about fashion and music and have recently started to include photoshoots, which I have been styling.

I also recently won the Ideastap Innovators fund with my friend, photographer Hayley Benoit. Together we will be creating a collection of portraits based around the subject of inheritance, to be exhibited March/April 2014.

Lots of exciting things will be happening in the next year or so, which is why I have decided to start this blog again. To document my work, my interests and anything else that gets in the way.
